Johnny Cupcakes Tour Video

Charity party & print signing with Dalek!!!

postercause3

This is MAJOR guys!  When it rains it pours I guess.  The 2 biggest in-store events in NICHE history are 3 days apart.  Johnny Cupcakes event on Tuesday, April 6th and the previous Saturday, April 3rd a Dalek event!  Dalek is regarded as one of the top graphic contemporary artists of our generation.  He has done numerous skateboard decks, vinyl toys, animation series, etc.  You may have also seen his work on Fuel TV.  He may be most well known for his space monkey characters, but his use of bold colors are also always present.

This event is the brainchild of Anthony from The Poster Cause Project.  Anthony is a local graphic designer that is working with big time artist in the name of charity.  To pre-buy the print you can go here. It is $35 and all profits from the Dalek prints go to “Murder Through The Eyes Of A Child”, a documentary about the high murder rate in New Orleans and it’s horrible effect on children.

Johnny Cupcakes suitcase tour!

jcBlog

For those of you who remember our Noda store you should be familar with Johnny Cupcakes.  JC is the brainchild of John Earle and is based in Boston.  In a very short time JC has gained a cult following.  Everything about the line is cupcake themed.  If you are lucky enough to check out his stores in Boston and LA it’s pretty mind blowing.  They are completely set up like a full service bakery, but only tees are being served there.  We no longer carry the brand because John has chosen to focus on selling only online and through his retail stores.  He was kind enough to contact us and is coming through on his suitcase tour!  This will be your chance to get some limited tees that won’t be available anywhere else and between Virginia and Atlanta NICHE will be the only stop!  Mark your calenders for Tuesday, April 6th at 8pm.  I’m also extremely excited to tell you guys about an event we are having the Saturday before as well but can’t let that one out of the bag yet!

Ghostland Observatory

These guys are playing this Saturday at The Neighborhood Theatre.  I highly recommend you check them out.  I’ve had friends say it’s one of the best shows they have seen and I know I’ve been hooked on their album for some time.  Yet another reason to stop bitching about the Charlotte music scene.

Winthrop Annual Silent Art Auction

This Saturday, Dec 5th, Winthrop University’s annual silent art auction is going down. I went last year and there was a ton of nice work for really good prices. Work is from both students and faculty and it is packed with people and should feature some sort of live performance art piece. Starts at 6 and ends at 9:30. If you feel like you need some new art in your life and you are broke, make the drive. Who knows, you could buy a piece by someone that will be famous some day. For more info. check it out here. JEAH!
